Welcome to Mullum Primary School.
Mullum prides itself in being a totally inclusive school. We believe that all children have the right to a happy, safe and rich learning environment. Our small school size enables all children to be known by all staff. Our teaching and learning programs will continue to grow - any child who is performing below or above expected levels will have Individualised Learning Plans and are resourced appropriately. Our core subjects, Literacy and Numeracy are our focus whilst ensuring the well-being of every child, staff member and families are also accounted for. Quantitative data supports our success.
Our specialist programs Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Language (Italian) and STEM (Major focus Science and Technology) will continue with our collection of Robots and iPads increasing in our Science classroom. We are fortunate to have many teachers who studied Physical Education and each class provides an extensive program. Please refer to the curriculum tab for further information.
Our Well Being approach is based on Positive Education. Valuing the strengths of individuals, and a culture of kindness and gratitude. Our behaviour management is based on a restorative approach where students are supported to reflect on their behaviour and the impact on others with the goal to restore relationships. The terms good and poor choices are used rather than good or bad behaviour. As part of our Positive Education approach we promote a strong community of strong individuals. Our ideal is a safe, non-threatening school environment hat supports individuals to achieve their best.
At Mullum, we value the partnerships developed with our parents and wider community, not only to support the well being and learning of our children but also as a community that collaborates ensuring Mullum is a tight knit community. The additional events of whole school picnics, Friday Fun Fair, Buddy program, sleepovers and camps, swimming, Care Groups, Lunchtime clubs, Breathing and Relaxation, School Productions and performances, and discos all add to our positive culture.
Our school grounds are spacious and include a vegetable garden, chook house, play equipment, asphalt areas with four square line marking and a school oval. We also will be having the official opening of our brand new performance space, undercover basketball/netball and volley ball courts.
We look forward to a very successful 2018 and I welcome any enquiries.
Regards Carolyn Macaulay (Principal)
