Mullum Primary School works hard to balance the importance of a safe and fun school where academic excellence is always the aim. We are a totally inclusive school and welcome all students. Our enrolment can fluctuate between 290 and 330 in any one year. We enjoy our smaller Ringwood School, as all teachers are able to develop relationships with all families. I also, personally value the ability to monitor the growth of all students and be readily available to meet with parents.
The school values its tight knit community where ‘being kind’ is the expected norm. We trust our whole school community to make strong choices and support our students to reflect on poor choices and how to make things right again.
Academically we are currently asking for student feedback regarding how they best learn and along with reputable evidence have developed instructional programs aimed at meeting the needs of all students. Most year levels are fortunate to have extra staff that enable increased focus learning time with individuals and small groups.
Mullum is fortunate to be located in very spacious grounds with 4 levels of play area that include a veggie garden, chooks, play equipment, down ball courts, sheltered areas for quieter play, an undercover decking area, large oval and, at the beginning of next year, our new building will be opened overlooking our newly surfaced undercover basketball court.
As Mullum’s Principal, I believe that teachers are the most important resource in a school. Mullum teachers embrace new initiatives and work hard to continually improve. Our recent purchase of Minibots and increased digital technology resources have seen teachers integrate digital coding within core curriculum areas and our STEM Teacher (Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics) explicitly teaches relevant skills in our ‘Science Laboratory’.
I am proud to be the leader of Mullum Primary School and it has been a privilege to work with the wonderful community to make it such a positive educational environment.
