Curriculum

English (literacy)

Effective communication through reading, writing, speaking and listening, and viewing are developed and encompassed within all that the students do.  Creative, critical and analytical literacy and thinking and independent research skills are also developed.


Mathematics (numeracy)

The mathematics program emphasises skills as well as understanding and promotes an awareness of mathematics as an integral part of everyday life.  Course content covers number, space, measurement, chance and data, and mathematical strategies.


The Humanities

The Humanities aims to ensure access by students to the shared cultural and collective experience of all Australians and prepares students to be active participants in society.  The students are encouraged to develop skills such as analysing, classifying and reasoning to manage the earth’s resources and to preserve the environment. Introduced at Level 1, The Humanities is not formally reported on until Level 3. At Level 4, it is split into the areas of History, Geography and Economics.
 

Science

Science education aims to develop students’ abilities to pose questions and provide answers about the physical, chemical and biological world.  Content covers natural and processed materials, the physical world, earth and beyond, and life and living things.
 

Information and Communications Technologies (ICT)

The integration of Information and Communication Technologies across the eight Key Learning Areas is a relevant approach to achieving learning objectives.  Learning Technology offers an exciting and challenging way of enhancing student learning.  The vision of the school in Learning Technologies is to be at the ‘cutting edge’ of effective use of Technology in assisting learning.
